Kyanite-Disthene pendant and sterling silver (925)


Kyanite is a member of the aluminosilicate series, which also includes the polymorph andalusite and the polymorph sillimanite. Kyanite is strongly anisotropic, in that its hardness varies depending on its crystallographic direction.

The name Kyanite derives from the Greek word kuanos sometimes referred to as "kyanos", meaning deep blue. The name Disthene also comes from the Greek δις σθένος = twofold strength and refers to the strong anisotropy of hardness properties.

The zodiac signs of Kyanite are Taurus and Virgo.

The chakras associated with Kyanite are the Third Eye and the Throat.

Healing properties attributed to Kyanite are for muscles, fever, the urogenital system, thyroid and parathyroid, the adrenal glands and brain it is a natural painkiller it downgrades blood pressure and remedy infections.
